As a nanny, it is usually not your responsibility to pay for the background check that will be conducted on you if you sign a release form to the employer.

If you are working with a nanny agency, they may have you submit your background check as part of your document/resume/references. The good thing about this is, when you do it yourself, you will have a copy to keep for use in the next 3 years for other purpose if needed.
