This is fairly confusing information for families looking into hiring a live-in nanny.  Most are not sure if the care provider is on duty anytime of the day or not. 

The truth is, regardless if they live-in or out, the hours there are on duty most be outline in the contract.  They also, can work 8 to 12 hours day 5 days a week.  But be aware that overtime pay applies after 8 hours day shift.  Your agency should be able to brief you clearly on some of these issues.
